The Kenko KFM2100 light meter is a well
designed, full featured light meter suitable
for the professional photographer or for those
who want to take their photography up a
notch.
The meter measures both ambient and flash
light and features a built in spot meter. It is
suitable for both digital and film based
photography and for still photography and
cinema.
The Kenko KFM2100's smart design is ergonomic,
making it comfortable to hold when using. It
features a large, vertical LCD screen that
displays numeric F No. values in 1/10
increments as well as on a scale vertically in
1/3 increments.
The layout of its buttons is intuitive,
there is no fumbling about when searching for
the right button to push. It is powered by one
AA battery and is able to get about 30 hours of
power from the one battery when running
continuously in ambient mode.
The meter will measure flash light either
with a sync cord or without. Its built in spot
meter means the photographer does not need to
invest in additional accessories that have the
potential to be lost. The viewfinder features
an F No. readout that allows the photographer
to get a reading on reflected light without
having to take their eyes off the photo scene.
The viewfinder has built in compensating
dioptric adjustment lenses so those who wear
glasses can see clearly without needing clip
ons.
The Kenko KFM2100 has an analyze function that
judges the ratio of flash to ambient light in a
scene. The feature allows a photographer to use
the flash to fill in shadowy areas and makes
the Kenko KFM2100 great for outdoor use, when
you want to mix flash with daylight to get just
the right photo. The meter is great for use
both in the studio and out of doors. Its
latitude display function makes it great to use
in areas with vast differences in brightness
between light and dark areas, making it easy to
get the perfect shot of the sun shining through
shadowy trees.
What's more, the meter offers an exposure
navigation system. The navigation system lets
the photographer evaluate and confirm the
exposure of different parts of the photo's
scene which is displayed on the LCD. The
feature aids the photographer in determining
the best exposure to use for the overall
picture.
Like other meters, the Kenko KFM2100 has memory
space for recording up to nine different
measurements. It is easy to record readings to
the memory--just hit the "Memory" button
located on the front of the meter after taking
the reading. Once nine readings are stored, the
meter will delete the oldest measurement to
make room for the newest one. Unlike other
meters, the Kenko KFM2100 has a calculation
function that takes the average of the
measurements stored in its memory. The average
of the measurements is useful when working with
reflected light and allows the photographer to
get the highlight or shadow in the photograph
accurately and precisely how they want it.
The Kenko KFM2100 is a great investment for
professional photographers. Its ease of use and
intuitiveness allows them to focus on the photo
instead of worrying about how to work the meter
and get the readings just right. The meter's
accuracy and features guarantees the best photo
possible, every time.
