The Gossen Mavolux 5032 B USB light meter is
extremely accurate, precise, and easy to use.
It can measure illuminance using either Lux or
Foot-candle. Luminance can be measured in
either candles per square meter or Foot-lambert
using an optional attachment. It is in
conformance with both CIE 69 and DIN 5032-7 B.
The Gossen Mavolux 5032 B USB light meter can
detect a wide range of light measurement
accurately, all while being easy to hold,
carry, and use.
The light meter is powered by a single
double A battery, making it simple to replace
the battery when it dies. Additionally, when
the meter is connected to a computer via its
USB port, it runs on the USB power while
plugged in, simplifying the meter's power needs

with a protective aluminum coated briefcase for
storage.

The case is lined with foam to keep to keep the
meter's various components in place and protected

The light meter consists of two parts, the
measuring unit and the measuring probe. The two
components are attached by a cable. Both parts are
easy to hold on to. The measuring unit is about the
size of an average smartphone and the probe is just
a bit smaller. On the unit itself are six easy to
press buttons: The on/off button, auto range,
manual range, a button to toggle between Lux or
Foot-candle, hold, and a memory button. Pressing
the hold button activates the LCD backlight, which
makes the nice sized screen even more easy to read.
The Gossen Mavolux 5032 B USB is able to store up
to 100 measurements in it any one time.
With the included USB cable and driver software,
the meter conveniently interfaces with a computer
for logging and transferring data as well as taking
measurements. When connected to the software, you
can delete from the meter's memory or add to it.
The data logging feature of the software allows you
to select at what intervals the light will be
measured and whether if will be logged continuously
or individually. There are two ways to view the
logged data, either as a chart or a list of
measurements.
The meter is perfectly suited for people who need a
highly precise measurement of light. It can measure
light intensities up to direct sunlight. On the
other hand, it can also measure accurately in
conditions involving extreme low light: it can even
detect light that an overexposed camera will not
pick up. Its sensitivity makes it perfect for use

or in the evening when the streetlights are turned
on. The meter is suited to be used in the
